Sometime this summer, the baby talk kicked into high gear. Dan and I never really had a timeline for when to start a family, but the timing just started to seem good.
Last night, before we went out for the evening, I thought it might be a good idea to just check. Nothing prepares you to see the word "Yes" on a pregnancy test - particularly when you've spent years trying your best not to get pregnant. My heart lept into my throat, and wandered into the living room and handed my unsuspecting husband the positive test.
We are extremely excited, scared, still a little in disbelief and cautiously optimistic, knowing how many pregnancies end in miscarriage. This will be a difficult secret to keep for the next couple of months.
We're reading a lot and brainstorming baby names and reminding ourselves over and over that it's quite likely that in September, we'll be parents.
